Discount Calculator
Enter the original price and the discount percentage to see the final sale price and exactly how much you save.
Calculating a percentage off
To find a sale price, multiply the original price by the discount percentage to get the saving, then subtract it. A 25% discount on 120 saves 30, giving a final price of 90.
A quick shortcut: paying after a 25% discount means paying 75% of the original, so you can also multiply 120 by 0.75 directly.
Watch out for stacked discounts
Two discounts of 20% and 10% are not the same as 30% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined effect is a 28% reduction, not 30%.
If a deal stacks percentages, apply them one after another rather than adding them together.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discount?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage to find the saving, then subtract it from the price. Enter both values above for the final price and amount saved.
How do I work out the percentage off from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original, and multiply by 100. The Percentage Calculator's 'percentage change' mode does this for you.
